A Virginia woman showed one way to leverage technology as a literal money-making tool after reportedly striking the Powerball lottery for $150,000 by using ChatGPT to predict the winning numbers.

I’m like, ChatGPT, talk to me… Do you have numbers for me?” said Carrie Edwards, recalling how she requested assistance from the Open AI-developed chatbot during a press conference last week, as reported by the NY Post.

It’s understood that Edwards’ A.I.-assisted gamble successfully predicted four of five numbers played to earn her a share of the consolation prize.

As for her intentions on how it will be spent, she shared that it will be portioned between the charitable endeavours.

As soon as that divine windfall happened and came down upon my shoulders, I knew exactly what I needed to do with it,” she said at the press conference. “And I knew I needed to give it all away, because I’ve been so blessed, and I want this to be an example of how other people, when they’re blessed, can bless other people.”

ChatGPT obviously can’t be used as a definitive predictor of the winning lottery numbers. Instead, Edwards effectively used it as a random number generator and then got lucky.
