Former Education Minister Ruel Reid, former President of the Caribbean Maritime University Fritz Pinnock and their co-accused in the CMU/ Education Ministry corruption saga are slated to return to court on October 3.
The date was handed down this morning when the five accused appeared in the St Andrew Parish court.
The other three accused in the case are Mr. Reid’s wife Sharen, their daughter Sharelle, and Councilor for the Brown’s Town Division Kim Brown Lawrence.
The accused were arrested in October 2019 for allegedly defrauding the Ministry of Education and the Caribbean Maritime University of millions of dollars.
Since the ordeal gained precedence however, Reid demitted office as principal of Jamaica College in November 2021.
A statement from both the Board of Governors at Jamaica College and Mr. Reid, said that “an agreement was reached for Mr. Reid to demit office as of the 20th of November 2021.
It also stated that” this agreement was in the best interest of the parties and more importantly, it will allow Jamaica College to focus exclusively on its mandate.”
