A man believed to be of unsound mind who attacked a JDF soldier with a board this morning and was shot and killed at the Metcalfe Street Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Kingston.

The incident happened about 1:35 a.m., after the deceased who is yet to be identified climbed a fence to the facility.

SLEEK was told by investigators that the dead man allegedly assaulted the JDF member after he was confronted.

Reports are that two shots were fired that hit the deceased man in his upper body.

He was rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital where he succumbed to injuries.

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is probing the matter.

The Kingston West police are also investigating the incident.
