Jamaica has been ranked as the 67th happiest country in the world, according to the 2024 World Happiness Report.

The report, released on Tuesday, saw the island move up one spot from its 68th rank on last year’s update.

The updated list, which ranked 143 countries, saw Jamaica as the highest-placed Caribbean country, with the Dominican Republic next at number 69.

Country rankings are based on self-assessed life evaluations and responses to the Cantril ladder questions, which ask citizens to rate their lives in the country over the three preceding years (2021 to 2023), with ten being the highest and 0 the lowest.

The indices used to measure included GDP per capita, Social Support, Healthy life expectancy, Freedom, and Freedom of corruption in its overall evaluation of each country’s rank.

Finland was labelled the happiest country in the world for a seventh consecutive year, followed by Denmark and Iceland to round out the top three.
