Over a month following the 2026 World Cup, players involved in the now-infamous post-final row between Argentina and Spain players have been punished by FIFA.

In a release on Friday, several players from the Argentina team who instigated the brawl have been slapped with multiple game suspensions ranging from 1-10 games and hefty fines from $30,000-$90,000 following the conclusion of the investigations.

Spain’s Gavi has also been given a one-match ban and a $30,000 fine.

Argentina’s football association (the AFA) was also fined for breaches. They were slapped with a $321,000 penalty in relation to the display of a banner following their semifinal game that read “Las Malvinas son Argentinas,” which translates as ”The Falkland Islands are Argentinian.”

The fine also covered breaches of FIFA’s anti-discrimination regulations by Argentina supporters at other World Cup matches. As punishment, the AFA has been ordered to play the country’s next home match at 50% capacity
