Global music fans remain in love with Dancehall icon Shabba Ranks, as his 1998 classic “Mr Lover Man” officially gained silver certification in the UK for registered sales equivalent of at least 200,000 units.

The track’s new status, which was officially verified in the UK on Friday, was also Shabba’s first solo certification in the market, emphasising the pertinence of his music catalogue among the generations decades later.

It’s the latest addition to Ranks’ credit, having gold plaques in the US for his Grammy-winning ” As Raw Ever” and “X-Naked” albums, along with his 1992 hit single “Slow and Sexy”

The feat also marks an upsurge in interest in the dancehall icon within the UK, with the recent certification of Dexta Daps’s 2015 hit “Shabba Madda Pot”, which, by title, shows influences connected to the music legend.
