While it is true that all premier league matches are important, it can be argued that some are more important and critical than others. This appears to be a sentiment shared by Manchester United Manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. In an interview following United’s 0-0 result yesterday against Arsenal, Solskjaer appeared pleased with the result. He acknowledged the result to be a source of relief considering United’s mid-week blunder where they dropped three points to Sheffield United who currently sits in the relegation zone.

Arsenal being a premier league contender means this away draw might actually be positive for united as they can couple this result with last week’s victory over league champions Liverpool F.C for a confidence boost. Not to disregard the mid-week result but as stated, some matches are more critical than others.

United now trails current league leaders Manchester City by three points which is not an immediate cause for concern according to Solskjaer. In the said post-match interview he said “we don’t think about the title race of title now, we’re in January” indicating that there is still much time to recoup losses.

If the gap between the two remains as such then the Manchester Darby of March 6, 2021, becomes even that much more exciting.

Manchester United is next in action on Tuesday, February 2nd where they look to return to winning ways against Southampton.
