The Jamaica Kingsmen have kept their Caribbean Premier League(CPL) season alive following a comprehensive nine-wicket victory over Barbados Trident in the Eliminator game in Barbados on Wednesday.

The franchise, playing its first season under the Kingsmen rebrand, showcased vintage performances that saw them rebound from a turbulent start to remain in contention for the title.

Electing to field first, after wining toss, the Kingsmen’s strategy proved to be fruitful as they had Barbados reeling at 30/5 inside the first 10 overs including three ducks on the back of economic bowling.

Outside of half centuries by wicket keeper Quinton de Kock( 71 runs) and Chris Green (57 runs) the fragility of the Tridents attack was exposed as they eventually routed for 144 after 20 overs, setting the Jamaican team a victory target of 145 for a place in the final.

Led by century by man of the match from Maaz Sadaqat, The Kingsmen’s response was comprehensive the former champs put belt to bottom against the home team.

Maaz’s knock of 112 included nine 4’s and eight 6’s in display of power-hitting and patient play before his dismissal with the score at 138. Kirk McKenzie 22 runs and Saim Ayub three got the visitors over the line with 5.5 overs to spare.

The result means Jamaica Kingsmen advance to Qualifier 2, set for Friday, where they’ll face the loser of the Guyana Amazon Warriors and Antigua & Barbuda Falcons game for another opportunity to fight for their place in the CPL FINAL!
