Oblique Seville, Tina Clayton, and Nickesha Pryce are among several Jamaicans duking it out inside the Diamond League’s leaderboard heading into the final meet before the grand final.

Men’s 100m World Champion Oblique Seville leads the pack in the event with 23 points, following his win at the Silesia on the weekend.

In the women’s section, Clayton shares third the spot on 15 points with Olympic Champion Julian Alfred of St Lucia. 

Fellow Jamaican, Jonielle Smith, also ranks among the top eight automatic qualifiers for the grand final, on 11 points heading into the penultimate meet of the season.

Jamaica also has two spots in women’s 400m, with Pryce currently ranked second in the standings on 35 points, five behind Dominica Republic’s Marileidy Paulino-40.

Stacey Ann Williams on 20 points, is the other Jamaican just inside the qualifying ranking at eighth.

The country also had top-3 ranks in the high jump and 110 hurdles.  Jumper Romaine Beckford, with 18 points, is fighting for that top spot in second, one point behind leader, Italy’s Matteo Sioli,-19.

Bennett, with 29 points, remains in control of third place with one meet before the final.

Women’s high jumper Lamar Dustin also keeps her shot at the Diamond League trophy alive at joint fifth on points shared with two other contenders.

A battle for the crucial ranking points is expected to intensify following the two-day penultimate Diamond League meet in Zurich, which kicks off on Wednesday.
