Post Malone and Swae Lee‘s 2018 hit single ‘Sunflower” was further etched into music history as the first and only song to be certified double diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for registering the equivalent of 20 million units sold in the US.

The RIAA announced the feat via their social media on Thursday.

RIAA Chairman and CEO Mitch Glazie also congratulated the two in a statement on Thursday.

“Post Malone and Swae Lee have officially raised the bar on what creative partnerships and infectious collaborations have the power to accomplish,” said Mitch Glazier.

The achievement adds to the staggering success of the rap song, which topped Billboard’s Hot 100 charts shortly after debuting as the lead single on the Spider-Man: Into the Spideverse soundtrack.

The honour comes just over a year after it eclipsed Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road as RIAA’s highest-certified track, registering 17 million units as of November 2022.

In addition to the song’s success, the certification extends Post Malones’s reign as the artiste with the most RIAA diamond singles with eight.

Swae Lee also moves up his tally in the diamond-sellers category with his third plaque following the announcement.
