Two police officers assigned to the Constant Spring Police Station have been arrested and a third is being sought by investigators in connection with the murder of a tiler in Red Hills, St Andrew on Saturday morning.

The deceased has been identified as 49-year-old Phillip Wallace of a Green Glide Close address in St Andrew.

Reports state that around 10:41 a.m., Wallace was reportedly standing in the community when a white Toyota Axio motorcar drove up. Following this three men alighted from the vehicle and opened fire hitting Wallace several times. It is also understood that a woman was shot at in the process but escaped without injury.

The police was then summoned, and Wallace was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Further reports also outlined that days before Wallace’s murder, the cops at the helm of the saga reportedly requested $100,000 from Wallace following a raid a few days earlier in return for a reasonable prosecution.

Following this encounter, a formal report was filed to the police and a corruption probe opened against the officers.

In the interim, the Major Investigation Division and the Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau of the Jamaica Constabulary Force are also probing the matter.
