An Indian man reportedly went on a crime spree to prove he was alive after being wrongly pronounced dead by the government.

According to reports, the man identified as Baburam Bhil a 40-year-old man from Rajasthan’s Mithora village, failed to persuade authorities he remained among the living following the issuance of a death certificate in his name

Following several failed appeals to his village elders and state authorities in an attempt to correct the error, Bhil fearful that the government would confiscate all his properties due to his announced “death,” opted for an extreme measure to prove his case.

It’s reported that he executed his criminal intention by using a knife and petrol bottle to terrorize a school, seriously injuring two teachers and a headmaster who were present at the time.

According to a police report, Bhil also held several students and teachers hostage until the arrival of law enforcement leading to his subsequent arrest.

It was during his interrogation by authorities that his motives behind the attack were revealed as part of a desperate attempt to raise the alarm about his case and have his death certificate annulled.

Although Bhil was arrested for his crimes, his plan might just work, following reports that the police have announced an investigation into his claims.
