Dancehall star Konshens is in a celebratory mood. On the weekend, he posted a video on his official Instagram account, displaying an RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) plaque.
The plaque commemorates the sales of one million copies sold for the album Victory Lap by the late American rapper, activist and entrepreneur Nipsey Hussle.
Konshens is featured on the album’s track Succa Proof with J Black.
“RIP great ute!! #themarathoncontinues #ripnipseyhussle #Konshens #dancehall,”
he wrote under the post.
Victory Lap was released in 2018 via Nipsey’s independent label All Money In No Money Out/Atlantic Records. It was certified platinum by the RIAA in January last year.
The album earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album at the 61st Grammy awards in 2019. It debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 albums chart with 53,000 album equivalent units. It peaked at number two in April 2019 shortly after his death.
Nipsey was shot to death in the parking lot of his store in South Los Angeles. He reportedly received ten shots.
Mike + Keys, DJ Khalil and Rance produced Succa Proof.
