Reggae Girlz and Manchester City Women’s superstar Khadija “Bunny” Shaw made history at the 2026 Ballon D’Or after becoming the first Jamaican footballer to finish in the top three at the awards, placing third overall as the best female footballer in the world last season.
The result, which was officially confirmed at the ceremony on Monday, saw Shaw finish behind the Barcelona pair of Eea Pajo and winner Aleixs Putteas for this year’s top prize.
Shaw, who recently played her 100th League fixture for the “Citizens”, was rewarded for a sensational 2025/26 season where she led Man. City to the Women’s Super League (WSL) & FA CUP domestic double. Bagging a league-leading 21 goals in 22 appearances for her third consecutive Golden Boot, topping off a staggering 32 in 35 games in all competitions for the Manchester Club.

The win/ finish marks a massive jump in her third year of nominations, having moved from 24th in 2023 to 15th in 2024.
Shaw, who also scored on her return to international football for Jamaica, has already launched her campaign for more awards, having scored nine times in her last nine appearances this season, including her 91st goal in her 100th Super League game for the team in that Manchester derby draw.
