One of the biggest showdowns in box office history looks set to unfold as Avengers: Doomsday and Dune 3 will be going head-to-head at the theatres in December.
The latest Avengers trailer release on Monday revealed an unchanged December 18th date, the same as Dune 3, officially solidifying a showdown between two of the most anticipated franchise releases this year.

Both films individually possess a cult-like fandom with anticipation at peak levels following their respective announced sequels. Demand, which is now likely amplified with competition now attached to the latest instalments of the movies.
News of course, has already amped up anticipation for fans and neutrals alike.
The upcoming showdown is already reminiscent of the epic 2023 scrap between Oppenheimer and Barbie Movie with both dominating film draws in record numbers for weeks. Collectively, the films grossed U.S. $ 2.24 billion in global revenue at the end of their theatre run.

Numbers which could potentially be dwarfed by the double drop of the upcoming 2026 flicks, with dedicated fans driven by competition likely to push the sales along with neutrals who may be drawn along from the surrounding hype.
