Olympic Women’s 100m Hurdles finalist Ackera Nugent set a meeting record of 12.29 seconds to dismiss a world-class field on her way to victory at the Silesia Diamond League on Sunday.
Running in her first race since the Olympics, Nugent was a picture of composure as she glided over each hurdle, gradually pulling away from the field over 60m to clinch victory, in the third fastest time this year.
That sub 12.30s time was just .01 seconds shy of her PB and National record of 12.28s set during the Olympic trials in June.
County woman-world Champion Danielle Williams also delivered a strong finish logging 12.38s for third just behind USA’s Grace Stark with 12.37s for second.
Olympic champion USA’s Masai Russell and silver medalist Cyréna Samba-Mayela of France had to settle fourth and sixth logging 12.40s and 12.47s respectively.
