For the first time in World Cup history, the winners will reportedly receive championship rings to commemorate their triumph at the tournament following Sunday’s conclusion at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Traditionally, winners (and runners-up) are presented with medals along with the actual trophy; however, the 2026 climax will see the inaugural addition of rings to complement the feat. FIFA’s Inclusion of championship jewellery in the World Cup presents another adaptation of American-style pomp and pivot commemorating their winners, similar to the NBA for Basketball or the Super Bowl for American Football.

It’s understood that 30 rings will be presented to the winning team, with a reported 1,996 replicas set to be made available for sale to fans, as per the BBC. The design is said to include a mini World Cup trophy, as well as custom engravings inside the band mirroring the attributes of the US championship rings.

The winner’s trophy will be presented by U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday, marking his second major global championship presentation in a year, following his handing over of the Club World Cup to Premier League giants Chelsea, also at the MetLife Stadium last year.

Sunday’s showdown will be a clash of Champions with Cup holders Argentina squaring off against the European Champs, Spain, for the 2026 crown.

Former Champs England and France will contest the third-place honours on Saturday.
