Former Women’s 200m World Champion Shericka Jackson has officially called time on her 2026 track season as she continues her recovery from her injury.

Jackson, who was forced to abort the 200m after pulling up mid-race at the Lausanne Diamond League on August 21, confirmed the early end to the season in a brief social media statement Tuesday evening.

Although distraught by her abbreviated season, “Jacko” expressed thanks for the outpouring of support and optimism for a better 2027 season, which will be a championship year.

The announcement, while disappointing, would not be a surprise to many given the apparent type of injury, which appears to be hamstring-related and the expected recovery time associated with it, although not officially confirmed.

The news means Jackson, the second-fastest woman of all time over the half-lap, will miss the Diamond League final in Brussels on Saturday, for which she was a top eight qualifier on points, as well as the highly anticipated super track series, World Ultimate Championships.
