Yard Mas Carnival Seals Deal with Mother’s Restaurant Group as Official Food Sponsor

Yard Mas Carnival, in its second year for Carnival in Jamaica continues to fulfil its mandate of collaborating with home grown Jamaican brands for their carnival road experience.

Evidence of this is seen as they sealed a deal with Mother’s Restaurant Group, a staple in Jamaican cuisine for over 42 years, as their official Food Sponsor. The partnership was solidified with an official signing of a contract at the newly opened Mother’s Cafe at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) on Wednesday, March 27, 2024.

Ian Bourne, Director of Yard Mas Carnival, expressed his excitement about the collaboration, stating, “The collaboration with Mother’s Restaurant Group was seamless because Mother’s is an authentic Jamaican company for over four decades and has currently been going through a transformation and premiumization with numerous offerings which fits right into the palates of our masqueraders.

As the band that is fully Jamaican owned both our companies have similar visions for expansion within the region as we take Jamaican entertainment and food global.”

The collaboration between Yard Mas Carnival and Mother’s Restaurant Group marks a significant milestone in the celebration of Jamaican culture and cuisine against the the backdrop of the high energy of soca music. Both entities are excited to bring their premium offerings to masqueraders starting with breakfast at 8:30 a.m. accentuated by mimosas to get into the spirit of carnival as masqueraders start the “jumping and waving” at 9:30 a.m. sharp on the road.

Shardane Simmonds, Marketing Manager of Mother’s Restaurant Group, echoed Bourne’s sentiments, emphasizing the significance of the partnership. “As official food sponsors of Yard Mas Carnival, the partnership is a solid one based on the respect that Yard Mas has shown in including local brands in the carnival movement through their band offerings.

Mother’s will be showcasing all elements of our brand from the Mother’s Café, to the Mother’s Bakery, the Devon House Bakery and the Pimentos Restaurant. Through this engagement with Yard Mas we will take further steps to proliferate the Jamaican Culinary experience globally.” Maqueraders can anticipate a multiplicity of food options, salads, pastry, soups and snacks by Mother’s M Catering arm in an air-conditioned location soon to be publicized by Yard Mas.
