Despite widescale uproar over the required Bachelor’s Degree for the open car park attendant post at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) in Kingston, it’s understood that University Graduates make up a sizeable portion of applicants for the opening.

First-degree holders make up at least 30% of the applicants thus far, the company said.

NMIA, which is operated by PAC Kingston Airport Limited (PACKAL), shared the update via a statement, having “noted the conversations around [the] recent job post”.

PACKAL shared that its emphasis on educational qualifications formed part of a larger positioning by the company to enlist talented, educated minds who can grow as part of a dynamic workforce with the company.

While the salary package was not advertised, the statement noted that its compensation was ” commensurate with the scope of the responsibility” with several added benefits.

The advertised deadline for the opening is slated to close at 11:59 on Tuesday.
