A couple from the United Kingdom was on Thursday sentenced to over 80-years in prison for the prolonged abuse, torture, and penultimate death of their 15-year-old son.
According to preliminary reports from the prosecution, the deceased Sebastian Kalinowski died from an infection caused by untreated complications of multiple rib fractures after weeks of cruel assaults and abuse at the hands of his mother Agnieszka Kalinowska, 35, and stepfather Andrzej Latoszewski, 38.
CCTV retrieved from the couple’s home also revealed that weeks prior to his death, Andrzej used a board taken from the base of a bed as well as a cable wire to whip Sebastian during his exercise training.
In addition, the victim was often deprived of food and was forced to endure punishments for occasionally dropping his food or even using the toilet at nights.
Another clip revealed by the police also showed the victim being barely able to stand after being subjected to a near two-hour beating session.
On August 13,2021, which is said to be the day before Sebastian’s death, Latoszewski was seen on CCTV forcing food and drink into the boy’s mouth and stabbing him a number of times with a needle in the groin and thigh.
Meanwhile, the victim’s father Jacek Kalinowski outlined in an impact statement that both Kalinowska and her partner Latoszewski are the embodiment of evil for subjecting his son to this extreme level of torture.
He also chided that Kalinowska’s method of punishment was brutal and cynical and warrants a punishment fitting this crime.
“Why did you hate him to that degree when you allowed that psychopath to treat Sebastian like that, and then you readily participated in the whole thing.You inflicted so much pain and humiliation on him. You made my son a punchbag for yourself, you committed a terrifying act, and you were merciless ” he lamented.
“I made many mistakes as a parent. Perhaps I was not able to be a perfect father, but I loved Sebastian. However, I could not protect him from evil, evil which was inflicted on him by his own mother ” he added.
