Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg has confirmed that his new social media platform, Threads, has shockingly lost more than half its users.

While the Twitter rival rocketed to more than 100 million users within five days of its launch earlier this month, Zuckerberg has acknowledged that those numbers have now tumbled.

Mr. Zuckerberg, who made the comments in a call to employees heard by the Reuters news agency, described the situation as “normal” and said he anticipated retention to improve as new features were added to the app.

This comes on the heels of a study from data-tracking site SimilarWeb early this month which finds that the number of daily active users has dropped from 49 million to 23.6 million in a week, meaning people who rushed to sign up aren’t coming back regularly.

Nonetheless, the Meta CEO has expressed his optimism about the platform and stated that he is not worried.
