St James woman charged for deadly housefire

Twenty five year old Christian Johnson of Lilliput, St James has been charged with manslaughter following a deadly fire which claimed the lives of her two children in Barrett Hall last year.

According to reports, about 9 o’clock on the night of May 21, 2021, the accused left her children in a one-bedroom house and went to a shop in the community.

Shortly afterwards Johnson was informed that the house was on fire with the two children trapped inside.

Residents however tried to extinguish the blaze, but their efforts proved futile as the children perished in the aftermath.

Subsequently, Johnson was arrested and charged.

As it now stands, a court date is being finalized.
