A high court judge in Pennsylvania has ruled that no charges will be filed in the case of Jamaican immigrant Peter Spencer, who was shot 9 times killed while attending a hunting trip with his former co-worker and friend in Western Pennsylvania on December 12.
This comes as District attorney Shawn Wilson had indicated that the evidence brought forth from the investigation yielded towards self-defense.
“We believe in this case that there is enough evidence presented for self-defense that we are not going to be able to overcome our burden and show this was not self-defense beyond a reasonable doubt, and for that reason, there will be no charges filed against the suspect in this case,” White said.
White also stated that the deceased was in a chemically induced state after consuming hallucinogenic mushrooms.
In reference to a witness statement, White also highlighted that after consuming said mushrooms, Spencer began an erratic rampage by firing dozens of rounds from an AK-47 rifle, which, according to court records, was purchased illegally.
Following this act of rampage, Spencer also allegedly held the campers at gunpoint and was subsequently shot 9 times.
“He was not ambushed. There were not multiple shooters, there was one and thus far ballistics and the autopsy have confirmed the witness statements from that night,” White further explained.
Meanwhile, the heritage affairs unit that is responsible for investigating crimes that is usually centered around racial bias or hate indicated that no hate or bias was found during Spencer’s death investigation.
“These individuals were solely friends. They were here for a camping trip. And that’s why we indicated there was no hate and/or bias attached to this,” said Corporal Aaron Allen of the Heritage Affairs unit.
Spencer’s mother Icilda Hunter Spencer declared that she will not rest until she receives answers about the untimely passing of her son.
