King of Reggae Music Bob Marley continues to affirm that his reign is never ending among music lovers world wide, as his 1973 hit ‘Get Up, Stand Up’ performed with the Whalers was certified Silver in the United Kingdom (UK) on Friday.

The silver classification certifies that the motivational classic has registered sales exceeding 200,000 units in the UK as per the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).

The track which was produced by Chris Blackwell as the lead single on The Wailers’ 1973 album- Burnin’, was later added to Marley’s 1984- Legend album which went on to be certified Diamond in the US.

The track’s renewed popularity in England comes on the heels of a musical about his life titled; ‘Get Up Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical’ enjoying an extended run at the Lyric Theatre in London.

Get Up Stand Up has been a source for sampling for several Billboard charting songs over the years including mega-hit Rude by Canadian Reggae band; Magic!, Git Up, Git Out by rap group OutKast, and Crown The King by Migos.

Get Up, Stand Up was the last song that Marley performed live in 1980 before he passed a year later due to cancer.
