Man robs friend of items and cash valued at $473,000

Twenty-nine-year-old Dean Douglas otherwise called ‘Esco’, a taxi operator of Lilliput, St James has been charged with Robbery with Aggravation, Shooting with Intent, Illegal Possession of Firearm and Burglary and Larceny following an incident in Ironshore, Montego Bay in the parish on Tuesday, November 24, 2020.

Reports from the Mount Salem Police are that about 6:30 p.m., the complainant and his friend Douglas went to look at a dog for sale, while travelling along the roadway Douglas made a stop to urinate. He exited the vehicle and went to the back, the complainant was sitting in the front when he heard the trunk being opened, then he saw an armed masked man pointing a firearm at him and told him to empty his pockets and throw everything on the ground, to which he compiled.

The complainant was told to step into bushes, which he did and ran off in a bid to escape. While running he heard a loud explosion sounding like gunshots, however, he escaped unharmed. A report was made to the police; he was taken home and on his arrival, he discovered his 32-inch TV, a 55-inch TV, his black iPhone XX Max PRO and cash all valued at $473,000 stolen.

Douglas was apprehended on an operation in Krall, Clarendon and placed in lockups. He was interviewed and subsequently charged on Wednesday, February 17 and has been charged.
