Dancehall stars Konshens, Malie Don and Reggae/ dub standout Jaz Elise are among the highlighted acts named in the November edition of Billboard’s Reggae and Dancehall Fresh Picks of The Month.
Konshens enters Billboard’s Fresh Picks with his recently released “Slow Motion” featuring Silent Addy and 1mind.
The track, dedicated to the ladies, has been the attention of the international listenership, evidenced in its inclusion. “Slow Motion’s inclusion reiterates Konshens’ unwavering knack for delivering compelling tracks that hit the mark for the ladies across borders.
The “subkonscious” boss, of course, has given some of the dancehall gyal tune classics overs the years, including his global smash “Bruk off yuh back”, which attracted several remixes, including a verse from Chris Brown.
Male Donn makes his second entry to the list via Byron Messia collaboration titled “Alive”.
The track, which was one of several major features on Malie’s Donn’s recently released “The Grand Rising” EP, has been attracting the expected considerable attention given the calibre of the song.
The catchy, upbeat single, which speaks to self-defence while enjoying a star lifestyle, has been finding its way into several playlists, with Billboard’s curators also coming into agreement with the track’s steady progression.
The rose among the thorns- Jaz Elise was added to the Fresh Picks this month via her single “Unforgettable”. The soulful serenade instantly compels the ears of listeners with its opening harp instrumental score reminiscent of the Brandy and Monica R&B classic “That Boy is Mine” which also serves as the track’s base, before breaking out into a sultry, yet playful reggae tune.
Unforgettable showcases the delightful storytelling, smooth vocal intonations and range of Elise, complemented by the creative fusions of sounds in its composition while retaining the core Reggae essence in the production by Izzybeats.
Reggae singer Suga also made it this month with her song “Love Doctor”, while Soca Star served up Some Cocoa tea for his entry to the list. Dancehall upcomers ‘A Suh Boss’, Lady Lava & Jordan English also earned spots with “Choppa Cry” and “Badd B”.
