“Lively Up Yourself” tops Rolling Stone’s “100 Best Bob Marley Songs”

As the celebration continues in honor of the legacy of the legendary Bob Marley, Rolling Stone Magazine has named his 1974 classic “Lively Up Yourself” number-one among its “Best 100 Bob Marley Songs.”

The track, which formed part of his Rasta Man album, was revealed as the top Marley release in an updated list by the publication on Monday.

The rank represents a massive jump from its number 13 placement in Rolling Stone’s 2020 Bob Marley curation titled “50 Greatest Bob Marley Songs.”

Concrete Jungle“(1976), which ranked sixth on the previous list, comes in at number two this time around, followed by “Roots Rock Reggae“(1976) at number three, “Small Axe” (1973) at number four, with Trench Town Rock” (1971) rounding out the “100 Best’s” top five Marley songs.

Marley’s spiritually reflective acoustic ballad “Redemption Song” (1980) was placed sixth, with the live version of his 1975 love song “No Woman No Cry” listed at number six.

Songs such as “Stir It Up”, “Kaya(1971), “Burnin’ and Lootin“(1973) and “Sun Is Shinning(1971) also featured in the compilation, coming in at number 14, 17, 18 and 19, respectively, while BBC’s “Song Of The Century” “One Love,“(1965) was placed 29th on the list.
