The St Catherine Carnival team is aiming to prove that it’s not only big on events but also community development through charitable initiatives.
Dappa Entertainment, promoters of St Catherine Carnival, kicked off their benevolence with a 250,000 dollars donation to Dinthill High School towards the facilities and programs within the school.

CEO of Dappa Entertainment, Ian Hopwood, stressed the importance of sharing blessings, especially among the areas that have helped to put them in a position to do so. He also added that given the importance of education and aiding the improvement of facilities at the institutions, giving back didn’t warrant a second thought.
Mr Hopwood noted that the donation is the first in an overall vision to foster community upliftment as part of their overall mantra as a company.
He added that while the move may seem novel to some, the idea is setting a good example and making it an ongoing initiative twinned with the staging of their events, with hopes of expanding its reach beyond the parish.
As he expressed joy in the charitable endeavour, he shared that while schools are high on the agenda of initiatives, hospitals and other institutions are also on the radar for Dappa Ent.
St Catherine Beach Carnival, Bacchanal in Bog Walk and St Catherine Carnival, which saw an appearance from Soca Icon Destra Garcia, are some of the notable events organised by the Linstead based promotion company.
