After 30 years leaving the grounds of The Queen’s School, Miss World 1993, Lisa Hanna donated a million dollars to assist students who are struggling financially at the institution.

The donation was made through her ‘Lisa Hanna Foundation’.

The former Queen’s head girl spoke with the ladies expressing her total love for the girl school which allowed her to be the woman she is now.

She said, “The Queen’s School were some of the best of my life – I honed my leadership skills, made lifelong friendships, and had fun.”

Hanna was also a house captain, games captain, student councillor, and prefect but remembered how she “saw firsthand the harsh socioeconomic plight of many girls I knew – simple everyday needs, like being hungry or having no money to get to school or home in the morning.”

She added, “I graduated 30 years ago – I want other young women to experience the same 360-degree learning I received.”

Hanna said, “Many of our girls are still experiencing these same realities I saw, and I don’t want them to turn in the wrong direction for financial support.” Understanding this, the successful politician through her foundation decided the best way to assist would be to aid the school with funds that will go directly to current “Queens” which will reassure them that help is available.

She told the students “These ought to be some of the best years of your lives to learn, live, laugh, and set a solid foundation” with hope for their future.

For Hanna, “No student should have to stress over a meal or their ability to get to school.” With this in mind, the personal contribution of JM$ 1 million towards assisting students with financial difficulties will be an annual contribution from the ‘Lisa Hanna Foundation‘.
