Karl Samuda has officially resigned from the Andrew Holness cabinet. The resignation comes into effect, Monday, May 22.

Samuda made the announcement Friday night while speaking at an awards banquet at the Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston.

With this announcement, the Prime Minister will now move to quickly select a new Minister for the Labour and Social Security Ministry.

He will now serve only as a Member of Parliament for the North Central St. Andrew constituency which he has been representing since 1980.

Mr. Samuda’s resignation is not surprising as he has hinted several times, he would not be running in the next general elections.
