The Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) will be adding a microsite to the online portfolio to entice couples to choose Jamaica as a destination for romantic getaways.

The microsite, myheartbeatsja, was launched at an online function Thursday afternoon with the island’s tourism authorities seeking to tap into the $300 billion wedding and honeymoon travel industry worldwide.

It will be a partnership between JTB, software developer Simpleview and Jamaica Bridal Expo. The latter had a first online staging on Wednesday and Thursday.

The microsite will be housed on the Visit Jamaica platform and will have all the necessaries for couples that want to engage, marry or honeymoon in Jamaica.

There will be easy access to guide couples to venues, entertainment, photography and videography professionals, who will have to be licensed operators. Other professional services will also be available on the microsite.

According to Minister of Tourism, Edmund Bartlett, the microsite is expected to increase the human element to Jamaica’s tourism, through romance and love.

“I think we can all agree that it is always a good time to celebrate romance and love, because love is the binding ingredient in our friendships and relationships generally.

“Love is the ingredient that speaks to the core or our humanity and moves us to act, speak and think in a gentler manner, because that’s human, it’s that softness that changes the texture of things and redefines a relationship,” Bartlett said.
