Attorney for Creed III star Jonathan Majors, remains optimistic that the actor will soon be vindicated of charges following his arrest on suspicion of strangulation, assault, and harassment in Manhattan over the weekend.

Majors, 33, was taken into custody following reports of a domestic dispute between himself and a woman who claimed to have been assaulted by the actor.

She was also taken to a hospital with minor injuries to her head and neck, the NYPD said.

In a statement obtained by Variety, Majors’ attorney Priya Chaudhry expressed confidence in his swift release and vindication from the claims saying:

“We are quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently.”

She also stressed the innocence of any wrongdoing by the actor: “Jonathan Majors is completely innocent and is probably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows” said Chaudhry.

Majors was taken into custody without incident, after a woman told officers that she had been assaulted, according to the NYPD.

It’s further reported that Chaudhry’s team has video evidence of the incident, which occurred within a vehicle, and testimony from witnesses which supports Majors’ innocence.

According to Buzzfeed, Chaudhry also notes that the woman “was having an emotional crisis, for which she was taken to a hospital on Sunday (March 26).”

“The NYPD is required to make an arrest in these situations, and this is the only reason Mr. Majors was arrested. We expect these charges to be dropped soon.”

The actor was reportedly charged with two counts of assault in the third degree, attempted assault in the third degree, aggravated harassment in the second degree, and harassment in the second degree.

In addition to co-starring in the Hollywood smash Creed III, Majors, who is one of Hollywood’s fastest-rising stars, also made his Marvel debut starring as ‘Kang the Conqueror’ in Antman and the ‘Wasp’: Quantumania.
