Hip hop mogul, Jay-Z has 99 problems but getting paid ‘aint one’. In a Manhattan Supreme Court on Thursday the rapper secured another multi-million-dollar legal victory in his lawsuit against Parlux Fragrances, which he previously partnered with in 2013 to launch its “Gold Jay-Z” cologne.
According reports; Hov, was awarded US $6.78 million in unpaid royalties, including interest to be paid by the perfume company by Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Andrew Borrok on Thursday.
Speaking to the press Jay’s lawyer Alex Spiro confirmed the ruling:
“We’ve been awarded and will be receiving the money as we should,”
Parlux has filed an appeal on Borrok’s ruling.
This latest legal win comes just six months after an appellate court determined the rapper was entitled to US $4.5 million in royalties from Parlux.
The court ruling that Jay and his company were “entitled to summary judgment on their royalties’ counterclaim.”
In November, the Billionaire was cleared of a libel suit brought against him by Parlux, after jurors found that the Roc nation boss, was not liable for the US $67.6 million in requested damages by the fragrance company. They had also thrown out Jay’s US $ 6 million at that time, before he was awarded later awarded $ 4.5 million in unpaid royalties in February 2022.
