Jah Cure set to return to court in May

Embattled Reggae singer, Jah Cure will reportedly to return to a Dutch court on May 17 to find out if he will remain in custody while he awaits court proceedings into his upcoming trial for attempted murder.

The court hearing which is referred to as a pro forma hearing will see the judge review whether or not the accused will be remanded while the prosecution prepares its case.

If the judge rules against his release, by Dutch law he will remain in custody for a further 90 days, after which the case must go on trial or another pro forma hearing has to take place.

Jah Cure’s actual trial of the case will probably be months from now.

The hearing was prompted by an appeal from Netherlands Public Prosecution Service on the dismissed attempted murder charge during his first trial in March, in relation to the stabbing of a promoter over unpaid money in October 2021.

He was, however, found guilty of attempted manslaughter and subsequently sentenced to six years, in relation to the matter has been in remand since the March 22 ruling. Shortly after which Dutch prosecutors moved to file an appeal against acquittal for attempted murder charge.

The ‘Prison Walls’ singer has been in Dutch detention since his arrest in October 2021.
