Instagram is reportedly testing a new feature that will show ‘unskippable’ ads when users are scrolling through their feeds, dubbed ‘Ad Breaks.’
Although Meta, Instagram’s parent company, hasn’t officially announced the introduction of ‘Ad Breaks’, some users have shared experiences of being forced to watch three to five seconds of unskippable ads before being allowed to scroll.
The testing break has unsurprisingly caused frustration among the small group of users.
The official description says, “Ad breaks” are a new way of seeing ads on Instagram. Sometimes you may need to view an ad before you can keep browsing.”
Instagram’s “AD break” seems to be a take on the YouTube approach of commercial visibility.
The music streaming platform has increased the level of unskippable in-video ads as it encourages users to sign up for its paid premium Ad-free subscription.
