Legendary Reggae Band, Inner Circle added another plaque certification award to their shelf after the 1993 hit ‘Sweat (a la la la la la)’ was officially certified Gold in the United Kingdom.

The feat was made official by the British Phonographic Institute (BPI) on May 12, which certifies that the single has registered the equivalent of 400,000 units sold in the UK territory. The single previously celebrated silver status (300,000 units) in the year of its release.

Inner Circle also celebrated the news via their Instagram on Tuesday.

‘Sweat’ peaked at number three on the UK charts shortly after its release and topped several other charts in Europe.

The single follows their most commercially successful track- ‘Bad Boys’ which was a global hit and became the theme song to popular film and television productions, most notably the reality series ‘Cops’ and action franchise ‘Bad Boys’ starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.

The ‘Bad Boys’ record which peaked at number 16 on the US Billboard Hot 100 charts also earned Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) plaque success, scoring gold in 1993 for sales of 500,000 units before upgrading to platinum status in 1996 for registered sales of one million copies sold in the US.
