The first week of burials since the ban was lifted, got off the wrong footing after mourners at a session on Friday were shocked and angered that the wrong body was delivered by a funeral home.

The funeral of Patrick Kellyman was extremely eventful at his family plot on Airy Castle Road in Stony Hill, St Andrew.

The funeral service was scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. with a half-hour time slot as stipulated by the Disaster Risk Management Act.

Things did not get underway until much later as mourners on opening the casket, realised it was not the body of their loved one Kellyman.

SLEEK understands the suit the family had purchased for the deceased was also donned by the body in his casket.

After the alarm was raised, the body was returned to the funeral home and Kellyman positively identified.

The correct burial proceeded later that day.

Efforts to get a response from the funeral directors proved futile.
