Drake has reportedly been ordered to face deposition in connection to the murder case of the late rapper XXXTentacion.
XXXTentacion, real name- Jahseh Onfroy, was shot and killed on June 18, 2018, aged 20, during an ambush and apparent robbery as he was leaving a motorsports store in Deerfield.
The case is currently before the courts with three suspects in the murder standing trial.
On the opening day of proceedings, the defense attorneys for the accused reportedly suggested that Drake might be connected to the killing.
It’s understood that Prosecutors have no evidence connecting Drake to the shooting, However, TMZ reports that one of the defense attorneys was successful in having the judge order Drizzy to be deposed.
It’s reported that February 24 has been reserved for the ‘6 God’ to face questions from lawyers attached to the case for the deposition via zoom after missing his original in-person date on January 27.
It’s further understood that the OVO boss could be held in contempt of court should he fail to be present at his new date.
This latest development in the case, adds more light on what conspiracies to his involvement in the attack.
Before XXXtentacion’s passing, both rappers had a bitter public feud after the ‘Sad’ hitmaker accused Drake of stealing his flow and rap style exactly from one of his songs to make another track after promising to work with him prior.
The tracks in question-look at me and Drake’s SMS both rappers have since been at odds with X repeatedly blasting Drake as deceitful.
Despite his death, that feud seems to have been kept alive as fans noted some lyrics on Drake’s recent ‘her loss’ album and feel they were a jab at the slain rapper.
“Maybe I should do 20, maybe I should break that 20 do a 10, maybe I should break a 10 do a five and if it gets live do a five again”- a quick calculation would reveal a clever reference to three sets of 10’s.”
The lyrics come from a song titled- On BS
Fans were quick to liken that as a sly diss to X as 10 in roman numerals equals XXX. A theory which was further compounded in the following bar- “if he held his tongue on that live he’d be alive again damn.”
During their feud, X had gone on Instagram live to diss Drake and OVO about being fake among other jabs.
It remains to be seen if those lyrics have been considered or if other evidence such as an admission by a witness has played a role, however, all eyes are now on that new date set for his deposition.
