Prominent Medical Doctor Japhthah Ford has died. He was found dead Sunday morning.
It is unclear the cause of his death, but the police believe that Ford died suddenly.
Ford has been a controversial figure in Jamaica and at one stage entered the field of representational politics.
He represented the People’s National Party in 1989 but lost three consecutive General Elections to Derrick Smith of the Jamaica Labour Party in the North West St Andrew constituency. The elections were 1989, 1993 and 1997.
Ford then left representational politics to concentrate on his medical practice.
