Cop shot in chest, hospitalized

A police constable has been hospitalized after he was shot in the chest last night while in the parish of Trelawny.

The Constable, who is assigned to the Clarendon Police division was rushed to the Percy Junor hospital then later transferred to the Mandeville Hospital.

SLEEK understands that the policeman was stabilized overnight while the suspect who was held, remains in custody.

Details of what transpired are unclear but the police federation is asking for prayers for the Constable.

It is reported that the lawman was also shot in his arm.

Executive members of the federation lead by its chairman, Corporal Rohan James visited the injured cop at hospital.

He is reportedly in high spirits and heavily sedated. 

The Federation is hoping for a speedy and full recovery.

Investigations into the shooting are ongoing.
