Burna Boy is on the brink of making more history for Afrobeat performers after being confirmed as the first Nigerian headliner of a US stadium show.

The African giant is set to be the main act for a July 8 event set for NYC’s Citi Field.

The Citi Field stop also coincidentally falls on the first anniversary of Burna’s most recent album, Love, Damini, which peaked at No. 2 on Billboard‘s World Albums chart and received a 2023 Grammy nod for the best global music album.

The show is another major stadium date in the ‘Ye’ hitmaker’s Love, Damini world tour which previously had stadium gigs in the Caribbean last year.

Those shows included stops in Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago as well as Antigua.

Burna had previously created history last April after becoming the first Nigerian to headline the iconic Madison Square Gardens show “Burna Boy Presents One Night in Space.”
