Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy has set his sights on remaining on top of the world with another R&B sample after utilizing Brandy’s 1998 hit “Sitting on top of the World” as inspiration for his latest release of the same name.

The visual for the track which was teased earlier in the week was officially released via his YouTube channel on Friday and has already amassed upwards of 470,000 streams since its premiere

‘Sitting On Top Of The World,’ comes a year after Burna’s ‘Last Last,’ which was declared a summer anthem, as it racked up several award nominations, and plaque certifications in the process.

‘Last Last’ which was the lead single from his ‘Love, Damini’ album sampled Toni Braxton’s 2000 hit, ‘He Wasn’t Man Enough’ and was his first entry into Billboard’s Hot 100 chart peaking at 44 and spent 19 weeks.

Given the success of the remix, the ‘African Giant’ is hoping to replicate similar heights with his take on another R&B classic.

‘Sitting on Top of the World’ which features former Bad Boy rapper Mase, peaked at number 2 on the Billboards Hot 100 in 1996 where it spent 33 weeks on the chart.   Burna is set to perform the track live for the first time on Saturday when he takes the stage at New York City Citi Field Stadium, where he’ll make history as the first Nigerian act to headline at a US Stadium show.
