Olympic champion and world record holder, Usain Bolt has noted that his drive towards pursuing a career in Olympics was solely based on his love of gaming.

This was revealed this morning in an interview with BBC gaming reporter, Steffan Powell.

In his interview, Bolt noted that his love for gaming helped his Olympic career, as his level of competitiveness is just as high on the athletic track as when he’s engaged in a rousing game of Mortal Kombat or Mario Kart.

“For me, those are the things that excite me about video games. Just learning and being the best at it. I feel like it kinda helped my hunger, I would say to always want to win,” he said.

“But I feel like it, in a way, kind of helped out with track and field, because now when you get on the track, you have that same mentality as when you’re playing video games. You just want to win,” he added.

Bolt’s interview serves as a part of a campaign with Virgin Media to highlight hologram technology that could revolutionize online video gaming in the future.
