Songs of Freedom: The Island Years, a collection of songs from the legendary Bob Marley and the Wailers, debuts at number one on the US Current Reggae Albums chart.
The 3CD Set, And 6LP Sets In Both Black And Color Vinyl was released January 29. It sold 710 copies in its first week of release.
Songs of Freedom: The Island Years streamlined to the period of Bob Marley’s emergence and stardom, with rare tracks on vinyl for the first time, outside Jamaica.
Among the tracks featured are Could You Be Loved, Forever Loving Jah, Rastaman Live Up, Slave Driver, Get Up Stand Up, Natty Dread, Who the Cap Fit and Waiting in Vain.
Marley and the Wailers have four other titles currently charting on the US Current Reggae Albums chart.
Live at the Rainbow: 4th June 1977 is currently number eleven after peaking at number one, while Uprising Live! Limit is number seventeen having peaked at number two.
The Soul of a Rebel peaked at number ten and is now down to number twenty-six, while Songs of Freedom: Rarities is number 32. That set peaked at number seventeen.
Elsewhere on the US Current Reggae Albums chart, last week’s chart-topper #7 DJ (7 Dias En Jamaica) by Colombian superstar Maluma falls to number three, while Higher Place by Skip Marley is down to number eight.
Upside Down 2020 by Buju Banton is number nine, Look for the Good by Jason Mraz is number ten and The ExPerience by Lila Ike is number 19.
In Search Of Lost Time by Protoje is number 25.
