As the fallout from the controversial One Caribbean Music Fest continues, event organiser Odane Anderson has reportedly expressed fear for his safety as he grapples with the financial strain from the failed venture, following several last-minute withdrawals of the show’s headliners, including main act Vybz Kartel.

Speaking with local media outlet Guardian Media on Thursday, Mr. Anderson, who spearheads Jacho Entertainment, said that due to the situation, he faces difficulties repaying monies borrowed to fund the production of the failed event and is now uneasy navigating that reality.

Kartel said the fans get robbed, his supporters get robbed. I get robbed too because right now my life is in danger because of borrowing investors’ money; (I) cannot pay it back. The shareholders have to get paid. Other service suppliers have to get paid. So, my next step is to try to find common grounds to work it out,” Anderson said.

The event became a firestorm of controversy following the US$ $1.35 million fee reveal for Kartel’s performance, for which he was paid a deposit of $ 950,000 of the total sum, leading to his withdrawal, according to his management, who cited contractual issues.

Several other foreign acts, including Malie Donn, Rvssian, Sizzla Kalonji and Moliy, later pulled out shortly after citing similar issues.
