R&B legend Freddie Jackson left patrons in ‘awe’ and clamouring for more at ‘Love in the Gardens’ in Hope Gardens, Kingston, on Sunday (February 11).
His silky vocals gushed over the atmosphere and placed lovers in a reflective mood as he kick-started his performance with the 2007 collaboration he did with artiste Melba Moore titled “A Little Bit More.”
The 67-year-old Jackson, then got more intimate with the ladies as he pulled deep from his catalog for hits such as ‘You Are My Lady’ – ‘Love Is Just A Touch Away’ – and ‘Have You Ever Loved Somebody’. However, it was his 1996 hit ‘Rock Me Tonight’ that had couples, and single ladies up on their feet dancing non-stop.
It’s the first staging for “Suga Rush Entertainment” and SLEEK entertainment caught up with Heather Cummings-Williams, Media Consultant and MC for the event who said Jackson was simply “Amazing”
The 2023 ‘Digicel Rising Stars’ (DSR) winner, Remone Watson who opened for the R&B icon shared his experience.
We also spoke with Jamaican songbird Alaine who also performed.
Sanchez who was a major act for the night, took patrons on a musical journey, bringing both the young and the young at heart to their feet -dancing endlessly and singing non-stop.
Nonetheless, the promoters expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support at the first staging of their Pre-Valentines Day event.
Meanwhile, the promoters expressed that the planning stages for the second staging of ‘Love in the Gardens’ have already begun.
