The eventful month of January in the Jamaican entertainment arena continues to attract international interest as Jada Kingdom and Stefflon Don topped Billboard’s ranking of clash songs during the period.
As the publication continues to highlight Reggae and Dancehall culture, it kicked off February with its breakdown of songs by the top feuding artistes – it deemed were the best.
The list, which includes Teejay and Valiant, saw the ladies emerge with the best two songs among the lyrical spars.
Billboard ranked Jada Kingdom’s opening reply, “London Bed,” number two and Steff London’s counter, “Dead Gyal Talking,” as the top release among all diss tracks in the month.
Both tracks dominated local trending on YouTube in the zenith of the clash before it fizzled into the second round after Steff’s seeming withdrawal.
Her track “Dead Gyal Walking,” which was a reply to “London Bed,” was fifth, while her opening jab, “Dat A Dat,” which sparked the showdown, was ranked at six.
Jada Kingdom’s second-round drop, “SteffLazarus,” wrapped up the ladies’ side in the eighth spot.
Despite the Men’s Clash having an equally anticlimactic conclusion, their respective songs earned credible mentions and placings.
Valiant’s “Lippy” and “Timoya” were ranked third and seventh, while Teejay’s “Chapter 1” and “Chapter 2“ concluded the list at number four and nine respectively.
