A Pennsylvanian man was charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of his neighbour whom he had an ongoing dispute with over his loud snoring.

According to reports, the accused, identified as Christopher James Casey, 55, was charged with third-degree murder, voluntary manslaughter, and possessing crime instruments for the death of 62-year-old Robert Wallace, who succumbed to stab wounds.

According to Montgomery County prosecutors, Wallace and Casey were involved in a verbal altercation at Casey’s residence during dinner last Sunday, ABC6 reported.

The confrontation later escalated, resulting in Wallace allegedly being stabbed in the chest by Casey with a large, “military-style knife.”

It’s understood that the neighbours had been embroiled in “personal issues” over the past year following complaints by Wallace about Casey’s snoring, which the victim alleged could be heard through the shared walls.

Following the argument, Wallace offered to help pay for nasal surgery to alleviate Casey’s snoring. However, that extension of the truce reportedly turned violent after Casey attacked him, as per the affidavit.

“Casey described Wallace as being very ‘volatile’ ‘very strong,’ ‘he’s angry’ type of person,” police wrote in the charging documents. “Casey said he did not believe Wallace’s intention of ‘try to work this out’ and ‘shake hands’ and try ‘to fix this situation’ was genuine. As a result, Casey decided to ‘surprise him’ by stabbing Wallace with a knife.”

Wallace’s body was found near Casey’s home by police who responded to his 911 call on January 15. Casey was also said to need medical attention after he was found with a leg wound.

Wallace remains in police custody with bail reportedly set at 1 million dollars.
