With Kingston, Jamaica seen as the entertainment/creative capital of the Caribbean, artiste and music producer Shawn Antoine has teamed up with TV host and singer Sanjay to bring Reggae RahRah to the city.
Reggae RahRah is a live band event featuring performances from various artistes at different stages in their careers but who are all creating a buzz in the industry.
The SLEEK team spoke with Shawn Antoine who said: “Live music is important in Kingston because we are such a creative and talented place that we must maintain outlets for the different forms of creativity that we have honed over the years that have produced talents like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, so many great musicians, and the many Legends too much to list.”
He added “Live music is yet another of those forms that need to be preserved, especially with the amount of great musicianship we have here in Kingston. After all, Kingston is the entertainment hub of the Caribbean.”
Shawn explained how his partnership with Sanjay for live music in Kingston was conceptualised.
“It came about as a result of working together in a band and both of us having singles out simultaneously. So we thought this would be a great idea to provide a vehicle for our products as well as other artistes trying to get their songs promoted in this type of platform,” said Shawn.
The first installment of Reggae RahRah will take place today (Tuesday, January 9, 2024) at The Cove restaurant and bar, 3 Winchester Road, and will feature Shawn Antoine, known for songs “Loving Is Easy” and “Full Time Gyalis” feat Konshens.
Lia Caribe, is known for her collaboration with Christopher Martin “If The World Was Ending”, Jah- Lil, with his popular song “Walk Good”.
The talented Zhayna, who is creating waves in the industry both locally and internationally will be promoting her new single “Before Daylight” and Sanjay, a familiar face in entertainment from his work as a TV host and musician.
Shawn said,, “Patrons can expect a fun night of live music with some talents to watch for 2024.”
